This blog has been sitting in my drafts for so long (as in years lol) and I didn’t even realize it!

The Wellums are foster parents and had been fostering Conrad since he was a newborn. Fostering is never about adoption but always about reunification. As a licensed social worker, I am passionate about trauma and attachment and keeping families together. But, sometimes, keeping families together is not an option for so many reasons. As a sister of 7 adopted siblings I have seen every part of adoption. Adoption is both beautiful and heartbreaking and it’s always important to remember that adoption always includes trauma. But there is healing and there are new beginnings.

Since this session, the Wellums have adopted Conrad and his younger sister, and have given birth to another little boy who is now a toddler! Maddy was actually pregnant when we took these but didn’t even know it! With Conrad’s adoption finalized, I wanted to share this family with the world!
